I'm a Heartless Bitch because I think we should be held responsible for our actions and not victimize ourselves by constantly blaming others for our problems (aside from being truly victimized by a crime, etc. of course).

I will speak out against double standards based on gender in order to shatter what stereotypes I can, and in order to lessen what brainwashing and manipulation occurs by the norms in our culture. I have no problem rejecting androcentric, mainstream attitudes in our culture and pop culture.

Because we have the feminists of the past to thank for what rights we now have, and what opportunities are now available to us (although there's still much work to be done), I have no problem being labeled a "feminist". In fact, I embrace it! Although feminism covers a wide range of ideas, it still comes down to one thing: equality! With that being said, everyone should be a feminist.

I take on the word "Bitch" as a compliment (sometimes it really IS a compliment) in order to neutralize its attempt at insult. And I LOVE meeting like-minded people to vent, exchange ideas, and to simply know that there are other people out there who are willing to question and criticize our day-to-day attitudes and practices.

And, I read the wonderful Bitch magazine.
