I was in an abusive relationship, married to a cop no less. I am in an emergency services field as well, as a 911 operator and paramedic. Well, I left him, and it wasn't easy. I had to leave an abuser who is able to carry a gun around 24/7 and knows the locations of the domestic violence shelters. I posted to two verbal abuse boards (thirsty for information) and got the help and the information that that I needed to help me get out. IE: I heard what I needed to hear, not what I wanted to hear and actually APPLIED it.

I have been out 3 yrs now, and I have stayed on there to "pay it forward" if you will, to help others get out and get strong. It would seem I am in the minority on those boards and when I call it like it is (when your children are in danger and being physically harmed or animals being killed) I, yes, I, was being chastised for being to hard on people or suggest that they need to leave, that they need to protect their children (or CPS will see that they are protected and THEY wouldn't have them anymore) I was made the villain. I ain't the 'pat on the head and have a cookie type' I guess. If ya don't want to hear it, don't ask me! I want a place where I can be myself. Let me IN!!!!
