First of all I was told about your web site by this amazing man at a bar one night after an emotional conversation about our views on life in general. It was awakening and spiritual to have such a discussion with a man, who wasn't in his 40's.
What makes me a Heartless Bitch? I am an educated woman, with goals and ambitions; with that stated I don't see many women around me wanting "more". By "more" I am simply implying the concept of not accepting what we have as adequate, not wanting a significant other to supply everything we need to make ourselves happy; wanting to and actively changing the world around us to create an environment in which our future women/and one really nice man, can be proud of.
I look at where we are at, and want to get on my hands and knees and thank my mother's generation. However, there are so many directions we can go -so much further we can take the ideas and concepts of their generation and build on it. I want my niece to one day want to get on her hands and knees and thank "us" for the change -- stagnation is boring-and terrifying, and we as women are starting to get lazy and not desiring more. Wanting change, creating change, and doing something to achieve change, is what we should all strive to accomplish.
I had a discussion recently with one of my friends, and she was stating that we should be happy for where we are as women. That in the 50's there wasn't the options we have and therefore we should stop. I looked at her and really wanted to slap her. Yes, we have come so far, and Yes we should be proud in our achievements; but there is so much more ground to cover: women and children are still hurting in our world, and we should do everything we can to educate, encourage, and support ourselves to become MORE. Accepting the status quo is not enough.
I know a lot of that was rambling thoughts, but it is how I have chosen to live my life. I am not religious, and I have recently truly realized that this is IT. I need to "word vomit" to get my words out, so there I go. I am just really passionate about this issue, and to see a whole website full of women/men that are here for the soul purpose of change. That has inspired me. So thank you for the opportunity, but more importantly thank you for inspiring me today.
