I am a Person of Consequence. When my sisters and I were children our parents asked one or another of us to say it sometimes. Then would be a be a short lecture or warning about having a sense of self and what happens if you don't. Some of these talks didn't make sense until much later. If "Heartless Bitch" in the context of this site means "person of consequence" as it did to us, then I suppose the reason I am a Heartless Bitch is that I was raised by them.

Having important figures in my life validate me in childhood wouldn't have given full benefit to me, had I not managed to defy them when my personal convictions demanded it. Even the ones that love us the most should be careful what they wish for.
