I have lived my life as an active participant, rather than a passive spectator. At various times in my life, I have been dissatisfied with my circumstances and, rather than whine about it wishing that things were different, I did something about it. I wanted to go back to school, so I went (didn't care that people around me thought I would never make it through--I graduated with high honors-- or that it would piss off my very whiny then-husband). I was unhappy in my marriage and saw that it would never improve, so I got out. No whining, no excuses. Just did what I needed to do. I am now a single mother working my way through grad school WITHOUT A MAN. I love men, don't get me wrong, but I will NEVER be dependent on one for my survival or my well being. A good man is like a good dessert, very sweet, but should never be seen as a source of nourishment.
