I'm smart, independent (being an only child helped that along nicely), a great sense of self, and have a tendency of being blunt. I figure its better to say what you mean and mean what you say because when your message isn't being represented properly, you have problems. Communication is important. I am also a very kind person, but I do know when to stand up for my beliefs and myself. I have a very low bullshit threshold.

One time a friend set me up on a date with a "nice guy." after meeting for coffee and 15 minutes of his "woe is me" spiel, I told him that I wished him luck and that he really needed someone who was less of a date and more of a therapist and walked out. I spent too many years of my life on people who were not worth my time, so I refuse to do so now. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind, I say. Maybe I provided the kick in the ass he needed to change his ways.
