I'm a Heartless Bitch because I expect men to do their share. Every Sunday, my husband and I go to my mother's house for dinner. My sister, her husband, and their twin girls are also there, as well as my mother's live-in boyfriend. Without fail, my mother's boyfriend and my sister's husband gather on the couch in the family room to watch something mind-numbing on TV and drink beer.

Meanwhile, my husband is assisting with dinner, setting the table, feeding the twins, and doing whatever else he can do to help wherever help is needed, all while receiving glares and snickers from the less evolved men in front of the idiot box. I speak up and say such forward thinking things as, "Those that cooked shouldn't have to clean," or "Why don't the men take care of the twins while the women put their feet up?" My comments are met with wide-eyed stares from my mother and sister, who both whisper from the corners of their mouths that it doesn't bother them the way it bothers me. Well, IT FUCKING SHOULD, I say! It doesn't take long for the men to mumble something about someone being a Bitch, clear the room, and scatter. This is when I know I've done my good deed for the day. It shouldn't have to come to this, but if it has to, I'll gladly be the one to speak up.
