I've worked hard in some pretty awful bars to put myself through university without having to worry about an overdraft. If the customer failing miserably to chat me up is old enough to be my father, I'll tell him that. I'll also tell him to get a life and stop wasting his time leering at people who wouldn't give him the time of day if they weren't being paid to do so.

Being a Heartless Bitch isn't just about dealing with harassment; it's about extending that sort of response to other parts of your life. It's the time when a guy I was breaking up with claimed he was so depressed already me leaving would push him over the edge and I told him not to attempt emotional blackmail, whilst walking out of the door. It's telling a friend that she should stop whining about how awful her life is and start sorting it out.
