Bitch? Most definitely. Heartless? Well, I've been called that by those sparkly souls who can tolerate everything except intolerance. I value honesty above kindness, but don't believe the two are mutually exclusive.

I'm an information scientist - sharing knowledge is a profession and a passion, and the one thing that angers me above all else is willful ignorance. I follow my own moral compass; don't ever spout sexist, racist or homophobic propaganda at me and expect me to nod and smile for politeness' sake. I won't take that sort of crap from my parents or colleagues, and I certainly won't take it from you.

I've had my share of troubles, yes, and I have my down days - don't we all? If you genuinely want to help, however, don't ask me if I want to talk about it. Make me tea and tell me a filthy joke. Life's miserable enough as it is - even if I can't laugh about something at the time I'll usually laugh about it later.

Occasionally a part of me wonders if I'm not too damned spiky for my own good. However, when that happens the rest of me gangs up on it and threatens it with pointy objects until it changes its mind.
