I'm a Heartless Bitch because society seems to define women in only one of two categories: Heartless Bitch and Doormat. Of course, I refuse to let society define me but I still like the name.
Having always been something of a Heartless Bitch, my fate was sealed upon attending a women's college. There, three things forever changed my outlook to that of the Heartless Bitch: I achieved a mathematics degree, proving my intelligence; I achieved an economics degree, proving my belief that those who work harder should have greater rewards and those who are rewarded for not working will sit on their lazy butts until time runs out; and I became completely, totally, infuriatingly fed up with the "cult of victimhood" (TM) in which I found those around me worshipping. Women's colleges are dichotomous breeding grounds for Heartless Bitches AND Doormats. Never have I seen so many strong women; never have I seen so many liberal bleeding-hearts who are "victims of oppression". Victimhood is for those who dwell in the past, who allow those who would victimize them to succeed, and who refuse to find their damn bootstraps and get on with it. I've made my choice and I'm sticking to it.
Finally, as a Texan, Heartless Bitchiness is part of my cultural heritage. The Battle of the Alamo was an absolute slaughter. Following this crushing defeat and the death of many of our finest fighting heroes, Texans did not become victims of the oppression of Mexican government. They turned "Remember the Alamo" into a rallying cry that galvanized a people to action - an action to kick their sorry butts back across the Chihuahuan and decide for ourselves just who runs this place. This is the soul of the Heartless Bitch. My soul.
