I have one childhood 'friend' who is a perpetual victim. We are
in our 40's now and the shtick is old, and my patience with her is at an all
time low. After her latest break up, and life disaster, she phoned
me and I was unable to speak to her ad nauseum. I told her I'd call her
back. Well, two to three days later when I got around to her, knowing it
was a whine session with depressive episodes, she was angry at me because I
hadn't called back 'right away'. My reply to her was "if you're waiting on
me to call back, you seriously need therapy". Which of course she
does. Two weeks later when she phoned, as soon as I answered and heard the
'whine' in her voice my reply was "gotta go, bye". I hung up. We
didn't speak for a month. I gave her a copy of "Self Matters"...we'll
see.
I have been told that I don't mince words. I hate anything that takes
longer than needed, including letters from friends. I can't stand stupidity in
adults. Any adult. Kids I get, they're young and don't know any better.
Finally, my best friend, of 32 years, is just like me. We love each other!
Both of our husbands know and completely understand that we are Bitches.
In fact when mine doesn't get the result that he wants from a repairman, vendor,
credit card company, flight reservation and/or screw up, he sends ME in to clean
it up.
