I have no time for those who resort to emotional blackmail to get
what they want whether they do this in an over or covert fashion. In fact such
tactics tend to make me all the more determined that the person employing them
should not get what they want.
I am constantly astounded by the rubbish people put up with simply so that
they can be in a relationship and I cannot understand why anyone would give up
their independence to have someone else constantly making demands on your time
and thoughts. I know that it is possible to have a wonderful relationship
with another person but you should never settle for one where your partner has
no respect for you and I am very impatient with people who do.
I believe that those who have suffered should be encouraged to pick
themselves up and start working towards recovery. It does no-one any good
to think that they can abrogate all responsibility for their future and their
actions - if they are as incapable as that then they should be confined to an
institution.
I forever challenge the "objective truths" to which we are all supposed to
conform, for example, that life without a significant other or children is not
worthwhile. I believe that some people are happier alone and would end up
battering the brains out of any kids they had. It may be taboo to most,
but I can understand why parents are sometimes driven to kill their offspring
and I am certain that part of the allure of parenthood to a certain type of
person is the absolute powerlessness of an infant child. There is a dark
side to all that fuzzy lovey-dovey deification of parenthood that currently
taints our society ("Baby on Board" car stickers anyone?) but people are not
willing to admit to any of that because of our current over-emphasis on the
rights of families to the detriment of all others. If people choose to
have kids I feel that they are accepting duties as well as privileges. Our
current system creates more and more privileges through special tax concessions
and help with the cost of childcare but is diverting the duties onto childless
taxpayers who pay for the system and have to cover for the working days lost by
parents being able to demand flexible working times/practices. Whoever
said that having kids should not cost the progenitors any money?
I can rant on at far greater length than this if necessary but I think I've
showed I have the foundations needed to become a Heartless Bitch one day!
