I'm a Heartless Bitch because....I believe women should be held to the same academic standards as men. My weblog focuses on standardized testing (I'm a psychometrician), and my readers know well that I dislike quote-driven affirmative action, whiny feminazis, professional victims, and "womyn" educators who insist that boys are evil and girls can't be expected to learn math unless we make it all touchy-feely and cooperative.
I believe anyone who wants to major in Women's Studies should be laughed out of college. You want to change the system? Fine, get the REAL degree and change it from the inside. You want men to respect you? Fine, take the SAME classes they take and do better than them (I derived far too much enjoyment in college by making higher grades in calculus than my engineering major beau). You think the medical system shortchanges women? Get an MD or a DO and use your hard knowledge to actually DO something to benefit women from inside the medical system. If you think "fixing the system" means memorizing platitudes from your Women's Studies classes and standing in protest lines outside companies, you deserve to be ignored.
If you think standardized tests are sexist, what you're really saying is, "Young women can't be expected to have good reading comprehension, learn how to use algebraic formulas, and have the attention span to fill out 100 multiple choice questions." Nice going, toots; by insisting that the SAT is designed to keep the white man on top, you've not only demonstrated your sexism (and racism), but you've also revealed the depths of your ignorance. I know many women who, like me, have Ph.D.s in measurement, and none of them have low expectations for their daughters' performances on exams. Gee, I wonder why that is?
And don't get me started on the fact that real "womyn" are not only supposed to be afraid of standardized tests, but also vehemently pro-choice, in favor of hands-off parenting, and Democrat voters right down the line. Really - DON'T get me started. :)
Thanks for the chance to vent here; even if I'm not admitted, I appreciate you giving me the space and taking the time to read my rant. Some days, I feel like I'm living in Bizarro World, where young women attending Ivy League colleges avoid science, math, and history like the plague, and gain hosannas for publicly insisting how "oppressed" they are.
