I won't pretend to be inept so that others can feel comfortable with their shortcomings. I know my worth and won't accept anything less than what I deserve.
At work I'm aware of the games people play. I just don't have the energy to indulge them. You may not like me, but you will respect me. Male or female, if you don't have anything beneficial to say to me, keep walking. I won't be sad if I'm the only one that doesn't know how your weekend was. Did I ask you about your kids? Why would you think I care about their recitals or the cute things they do or say? More often than not, the "cute things they do" are better described as disrespectful. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before you appear on someone's talk show explaining how you're afraid of the out of control child that you raised and continue to support. Good luck keeping Jimmy out of jail and Sally off the stripper pole.
At home I choose to spend time with people that I admire and enjoy. It's a short list, but it's a quality list. I work hard and prefer to spend the little free time I have with people I actually like. I won't apologize for that. I also won't apologize for only dating men who are good looking, intelligent and financially secure. This is a short list too. However, I won't compromise the lifestyle I've created for myself just to say I have a man.
