How am I a Heartless Bitch? Let me count the ways:

• I once told a guy: "Honey, if you actually think I want you for more than the sex you're lying to yourself." I know it's really demeaning, but he was actually trying to refuse me a lay after an hour of foreplay cuz he was afraid of - get this- taking advantage of my feelings for him.
  
• For two years in Haiti, I was the only girl (as a matter of fact, the only person) I knew who:
  • had natural hair worn in the most "offensive" ways: corn rows, twister braids, big 12-year-old braids, anything;
    
  • wore Docs (with little flowery summer dresses, mind you);
    
  • talked about fucking with the guys - I was actually the only girl in the back row, you know, with the "bad boys";-) - AND STILL SET THEM STRAIGHT WHEN THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD RIGHTS TO IT;
    
  • and after all this, still had the best grades in school.
• more importantly, I'm the only person of my generation I know who's going back to Haiti that isn't studying something like Business Management or International commerce, and who actually wants to change the system profoundly.
  
• I'm proud of my poor, dirty, famine-riddled, un-democratic Third World country, and of all the other "backwards" and "archaic" countries like it.
