I'm entering a field socially dominated
by men and that's finally accepting
women: the Episcopal Church.
I want to be a priest. They just started accepting
women as priests
America (20 yrs.), England (2 yrs.),
and New Zealand (1 month.)
I left the Roman Catholic Church, and
told the priest off, when I was 12 in
order to pursue my goal.
Not the smartest thing to do when your
not the popular kid a Catholic school.
I'm leaving my boyfriend of 6
months because he realized how serious
we are, freaked out,
and wanted "time alone" to sort things
out. He has an attitude about it
and I refuse to be treated like shit
and be put on the back burner for
anybody.
My women's studies course professors
think I'm the Heartless Bitch of the
class.
People think that because I want to become a priest that I've never
heard a cuss word, have never had sex, that I don't believe in evolution
or anything scientific, and will start preaching to them about God.
I hate people who either say "Oh, I didn't know women could be
priests!" or people that say women can't become priests and it says so
in the Bible. Sorry but where people get that is from Paul's letter to
Corinthians which has been misinterpreted for 2000 yrs.,
Augustine of Hippo used women before he wrote his works against them, and Aquinas
wasn't even a Christian -- he was a womanizing professor who was baptised
at death so he could trick his way into Heaven.
So, because of
misinterpretation and over-rated womanizers I'm being told that I'll go
to Hell if I want to join the Church. I also hate born-again Christians
who find out what I want to be and try to push me into their prayer
groups, clubs, one-sided discussions and trying to get me to get in
peoples' faces to "save" them and be good Christians. These people give
me and others like me me, a bad name. They seem to forget that the apostles called
Jesus "teacher", not one who pushes his beliefs on them.
And when I tell them this they, tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. Hello! I've
been taking coures on religion for years now and you haven't, so fuck off.
